Following on from the worldwide 2018 box office success of the film Crazy Rich Asians, Netflix are looking to replicate this success on their streaming platform with an all new TV show which will target the same audience but can be of any genre.

Netflix are branching out to regions beyond the USA and are accepting pitches and a finalised script for episode 1 of a Hong Kong based production, however the show must have world-wide appeal and represent an Asian audience positively.

They are looking to commission 10 x 30 min episodes.

Before commencing on the creation of your original idea, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the commissioning process. You will then need to undertake research into the subject matter, audience suitability and market trends for Asian audiences worldwide, as well as for the production of the episode 1 itself. You will use this research to inform your proposal, treatment, pitch and eventual script. You will present your final script during a formal pitch to the commissioning editor of Netflix Hong Kong.
